Tamara Griggs

History Instructor

Originally from California, Tamara Griggs graduated with a BA in English Literature from Reed College and earned her PhD in History from Princeton University. Her teaching career includes faculty positions at Stanford, the University of Chicago, and UMass Boston, as well as eight years within the History and Literature and Writing Programs at Harvard. Beyond the classroom, she spent one summer working for the circus and six years in the wilderness running a tech company. Her favorite reads include: Robert Caro’s biographies of LBJ, Stefan Zweig’s The World of Yesterday, and Nadezhda Mandelstam’s Hope Against Hope.
