Tamara Griggs

History Instructor

Dr. Griggs comes to BUA with deep experience teaching in higher education, including eight years at Harvard in the History & Literature department and Expository Writing program as well as teaching postings at Stanford, the University of Chicago, and UMass Boston. Originally from California, she graduated with a BA in English literature from Reed College and earned her PhD in history from Princeton University. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Griggs spent one summer working for the circus and six years in the wilderness running a tech company. Her favorite reads include: Robert Caro’s biographies of LBJ, Stefan Zweig’s The World of Yesterday, and Nadezhda Mandelstam’s Hope Against Hope.
