Community Service

Boston University Academy’s Community Service Program emphasizes civic responsibility, encourages lifelong civic engagement, and inspires personal growth. Through public service, BUA students develop as leaders who have a deeper understanding of themselves and a broader awareness of their communities.

All BUA students are required to complete eight hours of service for each year that they are enrolled, with up to four hours fulfilled internally at BUA and at least four externally. BUA’s Community Service Club plans monthly volunteer outings to various charitable organizations in and around Boston. We recommend that students use the Teen Life search box to find a list of local agencies that welcome teen volunteers.

Each May, BUA has a school-wide Day of Service, in which all students and faculty fan out to sites across the city to spend a day volunteering at charitable organizations that have personal meaning to them.
