Our School

As the only high school in New England that is part of a major research university, Boston University Academy offers students who love learning both a traditional, caring independent school experience and access to a broad range of university courses. In the eleventh and twelfth grades, students follow their passions by regularly completing up to twelve courses from Boston University’s undergraduate curriculum. The school’s 229 students are curious, capable, and kind. They come from 55 cities and towns in the Greater Boston area. 59% of students identify as students of color and 28% of families receive financial aid — a reflection of BUA’s commitment to equity and access.

Your Career

We often hear — both from our own faculty and from professors at Boston University — that BUA students are every teacher’s dream: kind, curious, passionate, and engaged. BUA’s small class sizes and discussion-based curriculum encourage close student-teacher relationships and the opportunity for wide-ranging exploration of course material. Beyond the classroom, BUA employees enjoy the resources and benefits associated with being a member of the larger University community: Boston University is one of the largest private employers in Massachusetts, with almost 10,000 faculty and staff on a dynamic, vibrant urban campus that is shaping the future of education. As a leading global research institution, BU has a rich legacy of serving its students, faculty, and staff as well as the communities beyond campus. You can become a part of this legacy, have a direct impact on students, and take advantage of competitive benefits and opportunities for professional and personal growth.
