Before joining BUA in 2016, Pat received her BA in Classics from Harvard University and her PhD in Classical Philology from the University of California, Berkeley. She taught for six years in the Classics Department of Boston University, and, more recently, spent five years teaching Rhetoric in BU’s College of General Studies. Her research interests include Latin poetry, with a focus on Martial’s epigrams and the literature of the Flavian period, ancient reading practices, and women and gender in Roman and Greek culture. Her teaching interests include classical languages and literature, writing and composition, linguistics, and the ancient world. Outside of the classroom, Pat enjoys reading (and writing drafts of) science fiction, fantasy, mysteries, and poetry; traveling abroad; music; meditation; making art; knitting and other fiber arts; and good food and good conversation.
