Career Mentoring Program
BUA’s Career Mentoring Program was launched with the mission to create opportunities for students and alumni to gain access to the knowledge and network of experienced professionals in the BUA community.
To date:
- 88 alumni, current parents, and parents of graduates volunteered as mentors
- 46 young alumni and BUA seniors wanted to find a mentor
- 50 mentor-mentee matches were made
- Alumni panels for current students about careers in AI, classics, entrepreneurship, medicine, psychology, and the arts
This program seeks to provide equitable access to career advice and mentorship through informational interviews, job shadows, and career panels, across a wide range of fields. It offers mentors an additional way to give back to a school community that, for many, has been transformational. And, for all, it will foster connections and friendships that they can draw upon in the future.
We’re off to a great start. Here is some feedback from participants:
“The informational call I had was very helpful and provided a lot of insights into a career path I’ve always been interested in. I got to learn more about the possible roles in the industry, how I should look for roles, and how I should consider my longer term career plans.”
“Being able to contribute to someone’s life and career path decision is an honor. It is all the more precious when they are graduates of a school your own child attends. I am happy to be able to be a part of this program.”
