BUA’s Community Service Graduation Requirement

Boston University Academy’s Community Service Program emphasizes civic responsibility, encourages lifelong civic engagement, and inspires personal growth. Through public service, BUA students develop as leaders who have a deeper understanding of themselves and a broader awareness of their communities.

All BUA students are required to complete eight hours of service for each year that they are enrolled, with up to four hours fulfilled internally at BUA and at least four externally. BUA’s Community Service Club plans monthly volunteer outings to various charitable organizations in and around Boston. In addition to the eight annual hours, students may accumulate and submit an additional eight hours (up to four internal) to complete their senior year requirement early. Hours must be submitted through this form by April 1st of that academic year.
